YMCA Opens 11th Branch Facility in Waynesboro

The Greater Augusta Family YMCA will hold a Grand Opening for its 11th branch facility on Saturday, June 1, 2019 at 50 Olympic Road in Waynesboro, Georgia, 9:00 a.m. (pool opens at 11:30 a.m.) – 6:00 p.m., with a Ribbon Cutting Ceremony at 10:30 a.m.
The $6.3 million facility is a collaboration with the Burke County Board of Commissioners with generous financial support from the Georgia Power Company, Dalton Utilities, Oglethorpe Power and Ingevity, Inc.
The project brings the citizens of Burke County a state-of-the-art fitness facility, pool and water park, providing the only public pool available in the county. The 20,000 square feet facility will offer:
Eight lane lap pool, lazy river, zero-entry kiddie pool, double water slide with landing pool
22,000 square foot space of pool deck
Perimeter walking trail
Large multi-purpose field
Community meeting room
Spinning theater
Group Exercise Rooms
Variety of group exercise programs
Boot Camp training
Personal Training
Machine and Free Weights areas
Play and Learn child care
Mother’s Morning Out
Parent’s Night Out
Corporate group memberships available
During the Grand Opening Weekend, a special $0 Joiner’s Fee offer is available for new members which is an up to $100 value. All Burke County YMCA memberships are “Metro” memberships, which allow access to all Y branch locations in the CSRA. Rates are comparable to existing Y branch rates of a similar size and offerings, with scholarship programs available for those who qualify. The Y provides $2 million annually in scholarships throughout the CSRA for all of its programs. The policy of the Y is no one is ever turned away for their inability to pay.
