Doctors Hospital announced that it recently became the first hospital in the CSRA to perform a robotic assisted total knee replacement procedure.
 
“This latest advancement in orthopedic surgery makes joint replacement procedures easier for patients and surgeons,” said John Bojescul, MD, orthopedic surgeon on staff at Doctors Hospital. “The new technology helps us achieve a higher degree of accuracy, which results in faster recovery times and better outcomes for our patients.”
 
Knee replacement is a surgical treatment option which relieves pain caused by joint degeneration of the knee. Using the robotic assisted technology, the surgeon guides the robotic-arm to position the implant and is able to save healthy bone and ligaments surrounding the knee joint. Studies have shown robotic assisted knee replacement is more accurate than manual knee replacement and reduces injury to adjacent tissues and increased longevity of the knee implant.
