Jessye Norman School Annual Benefit Concert Presents 6x Tony Award Winning Actress and Singer Audra McDonald October 13th
Wednesday, August 28th, 2019
The Jessye Norman School of the Arts will hold its annual benefit concert on October 13, 2019, at the Miller Theater in downtown Augusta, Georgia. Critically acclaimed performer Audra McDonald is unparalleled in the breadth and versatility of her artistry as both a singer and an actress. In addition to a record-breaking six Tony Awards—distinguishing her as the most decorated performer in American theater—she is the recipient of two Grammy Awards, an Emmy Award, and a 2015 National Medal of Arts presented by President Barack Obama. Blessed with a luminous soprano and an incomparable gift for dramatic truth-telling, she is as much at home on Broadway and concert stages as she is on film and television. As a recording artist, she has released six solo albums. Her training in classical voice at Juilliard has led to appearances with leading opera companies and orchestras around the world.
Tickets will be offered at the Miller Theater and a ticket release date will be announced.
The Jessye Norman School of the Arts serves a critical role in Augusta’s community. Each year it becomes more evident that our community must continue to pull together and provide the support necessary to sustain and build supplemental arts programs for our children. JNSA has grown because Augustans realize how critical the arts are to the long-term viability of our community and to the enhanced educational opportunities of our youth, who will someday be the leaders and members of our community. The Jessye Norman School of the Arts continues to expand the number of students it can serve and develop the programs it can offer. Contributions, attendance at events and donations make this possible.
