Thursday, November 21st, 2019
Skyworx Innovation Xchange, the Augusta Regional Airports’ (AGS) new aerospace business incubator, hosted its first innovation forum focused on unmanned aerial systems (UAS) and cyber security relating to UAS. The event was held at the new Georgia Cyber Center in downtown Augusta, Georgia.
The Innovation Xchange was developed as a way to disseminate information and encourage collaboration between disparate groups working on similar programs in the UAS industry. Speakers included people from academia, military, government and private industry. More than 90 attendees, reflecting the same diverse groups as the speakers, registered for and attended the event.
“With the tremendous growth in the UAS industry and the relocation of Army Cyber Command (ARCYBER) to the Augusta region, we felt the program would be very timely to the region,” stated Herbert Judon, Jr., Executive Director, Augusta Regional Airport.
Skyworx is operated by and through, AGS staff and the Augusta Aviation Commission (AAC). The mission of the Skyworx Innovation Xchange is to encourage interest and innovation in the aerospace industry by providing an entrepreneurial environment, which encourages new ventures and minimizes risk of failure during the critical start-up phase of new businesses.
