Keep Augusta Beautiful Receives Awards

Keep Augusta Beautiful, and its partners, received 3 awards at the annual program by the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation; the Governor’s Circle Award, Law Enforcement of the Year Award, Innovative Partnership Award, and Litter Prevention Award from the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation. Each year, the foundation celebrates individuals, schools, corporations, nonprofits, and government agencies striving to improve Georgia’s environment at the Marriot Century Center in Atlanta..
“We’re proud of the work being done in local communities to make our state cleaner, greener, and more beautiful,” said Natalie Johnston-Russell, executive director of the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation. “The people that we’re honoring this year truly bring our mission to life.”
The annual awards ceremony recognizes outstanding efforts in the areas of litter prevention, waste reduction and recycling, community beautification, and overall community improvement. Honorees include law enforcement officers, elected officials, students, volunteers, and two executive directors.
The program also honors Georgia’s Keep America Beautiful affiliates for their comprehensive environmental impact on local communities. Since its founding in 1978, the Keep Georgia Beautiful Foundation’s network of affiliates has grown to encompass over 70 local programs serving 80% of the state’s population.
Keep Augusta Beautiful, one of the newest affiliates in the State of Georgia seeks to engage, educate, and coordinate community initiatives that will make Augusta, GA a cleaner, greener, and more beautiful place to live and work. Since its inception in January 2018, and reaching affiliation status in March 2019, Keep Augusta Beautiful has begun to cultivate partnerships to help Augusta, GA reach is highest potential in recycling, litter reduction, and beautification.
