Jerri Jennings-Joly appointed as Augusta Technical College Chief of Campus Police

Augusta Technical College proudly announces the promotion of Sergeant Jerri Jennings-Joly to the position of Chief of Campus Police following an extensive search process. With a remarkable career spanning 27 years in law enforcement, Chief Jennings-Joly brings a wealth of experience and expertise to her new role.

Having served with distinction in various law enforcement agencies, including the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office for 10 years, the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office for five years, and the Augusta Technical College Police Department for 12 years.

Chief Jennings-Joly has demonstrated unwavering dedication and leadership throughout her career. Her diverse background encompasses roles such as Deputy Jailer, Patrol officer, Field Training Officer, Narcotics and Tracking K9 handler, Crime Suppression Officer, Law Enforcement Instructor, Rape Aggression Defense (RAD) Instructor, ALICE Response Training Instructor, and Sergeant.

In her new capacity, Chief Jennings-Joly expressed her gratitude and commitment, stating, “I am honored and humbled to have been selected to lead the Augusta Technical College Police Department. I have dedicated my life to serving others and pledge to continue to work tirelessly to make a positive difference in the lives of the people we serve."

Chief Jennings-Joly academic achievements further underscore her dedication to her profession. She holds undergraduate degrees in Criminal Justice and Organizational Security and Management from Augusta University and the University of Phoenix, respectively, as well as a master’s degree in Administration of Justice and Security from the University of Phoenix. She also completed a certificate in medical coding from Bryant and Stratton College. She exemplifies a commitment to lifelong learning and professional development.

An active member of professional associations such as the Georgia Association of Chief’s of Police, Georgia Gang Investigators Association, and the National Association of Clery Compliance Officers and Professionals, Chief Jennings-Joly remains at the forefront of best practices in law enforcement.

College President Dr. Jermaine Whirl expressed confidence in Chief Jennings-Joly's ability to lead, stating, "Augusta Tech is fortunate to have a leader like Chief Jennings-Joly as our new chief of police. She’s been a valued member of our team for over a decade, and her dedication to providing a safe learning and working environment for our college community is exhibited in everything she does. We’re confident that she’ll continue the excellence already established within the department."

Chief Jennings-Joly is a native of Evans, Georgia. Alongside her spouse and two children, she resides in the CSRA. Chief Jennings-Joly is an avid animal lover, where her passion for animal welfare is evident in her care for a variety of animals on her small farm.
