Augusta Technical College is proud to announce the appointment of Dr. Melissa Frank-Alston to the American Association of Community Colleges (AACC) Commission on Student Success. Dr. Frank-Alston serves as Provost and Institutional Accreditation Liaison to the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC). The Commission on Student Success is one of AACC’s nine commissions for community colleges in the United States to collaborate on important community college issues and priorities.

“I am honored to represent Augusta Technical College and work with colleagues across the country in developing strategies and best practices for student success. Within my 30-year career in higher education, advocating for student access and success has been my top priority as a college administrator," noted Dr. Frank-Alston.

The Commission on Student Success focuses on student access, success, and organizational transformation. The commission examines various subject areas such as degree completion and two-year to four-year transfer. In addition, it looks at cutting-edge innovation with proven outcomes and ways to improve student success while providing affordable, high-quality technical assistance in areas that support students.

"Augusta Tech congratulates Provost Frank-Alston on her appointment to AACC’s Commission on Student Success. It’s a tremendous honor to be selected, and I know she’ll provide great insights to the commission while also learning national best practices to bring back to our institution as well," stated College President Dr. Jermaine Whirl.

Dr. Frank-Alston will serve a three-year term from July 1, 2024 to June 30, 2027.
