Golden Harvest Food Bank Receives $32,000 Grant from the Morgan Stanley Foundation
Thursday, June 13th, 2024
Golden Harvest Food Bank announced today that a $32,000 grant from the Morgan Stanley Foundation will support its programs to more effectively reach children and families facing hunger in its 25 counties across Georgia and South Carolina.
Support from this grant will go towards programs including the BackPack program, which provides school-aged children in need with a bag full of healthy food and snacks each Friday during the school year so that they have enough to eat over the weekend
Food insecurity exists in every county, parish and borough in the United States. It impacts people of all ages, races, ethnicities, abilities and beliefs. In Golden Harvest Food Bank's 11,000 square mile service area across Georgia and South Carolina, one in 7 people, including one in 4 children, face hunger.
“We are extremely appreciative of the Morgan Stanley Foundation for their generous donation to support our child feeding programs like the BackPack program,” said Amy Breitmann, President & CEO, Golden Harvest Food Bank. “This vital support from our corporate partners is essential in our mission of ensuring that no child goes hungry.”
Golden Harvest Food Bank is one of 44 Feeding America® partner food banks receiving funding from the Morgan Stanley Foundation this year, as part of its long-standing commitment to supporting children’s health in communities across the country. The Morgan Stanley Foundation has announced $8 million in additional funding over the next four years to Feeding America, bringing the firm’s total funding to more than $50 million since 2009 to support local hunger-relief programs that deliver food assistance and nutritious meals to children and families.
“The Feeding America network of food banks is making a true difference for children and families facing hunger in communities across the United States,” said Joan Steinberg, Global Head of Philanthropy at Morgan Stanley and President of the Morgan Stanley Foundation. “We are proud to support these innovative programs to reach communities that are particularly at risk of food insecurity.”
