July Declared Park and Recreation Month in Aiken by Mayor and City Council

The City of Aiken announces that July has been declared Park and Recreation Month by Mayor Teddy Milner and the City Council. In celebration, the City of Aiken Parks, Recreation & Tourism Department (PRT) has planned a full month of exciting activities and events designed to engage the community.

Key highlights of the month-long celebration include:

  • Kickoff Event: A fire truck spray down at the Odell Weeks Activities Center’s Price Avenue Shelter on July 1

  • Fun: Be A Kid Again Day featuring yard games at Virginia Acres Park on July 8

  • Games: BINGO BOGO at the Lessie B. Price Aiken Senior & Youth Center on July 26

  • Nature Walks and Hikes: Take-A-Hike program on July 27 and a Nature Walk at Carolina Bay on July 31

Jessica Campbell, Director of PRT, expressed enthusiasm for the upcoming events, stating, “Our PRT programs are vital to fostering a sense of community and promoting healthy, active lifestyles. We are excited to celebrate Parks and Recreation Month with a variety of activities that highlight the wonderful resources we have here in Aiken.”
