Golden Harvest Food Bank Launches Hunger Action Month

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Thursday, September 5th, 2024

Golden Harvest Food Bank, as part of the Feeding America network, recognizes September as Hunger Action Month, a time when we and other Feeding America food banks across the nation come together to spotlight the urgent issue of food insecurity and inspire people everywhere to take meaningful action.

Throughout the month of September, Golden Harvest Food Bank will lead various impactful events and initiatives aimed at engaging the community and driving change. A key moment will be Hunger Action Day on September 10, dedicated to uniting the community in making a significant impact on those experiencing hunger.

“Hunger Action Month provides us with an opportunity to unite with food banks across the nation to fight hunger during these challenging times,” said Amy Breitmann, President & CEO, Golden Harvest Food Bank. “With 1 in 7 people and 1 in 4 children in our community facing food insecurity, it’s crucial that we stand together with our supporters to advocate for change and make a meaningful impact on the lives of those we serve.”

This September marks the 17th year of Feeding America’s annual call to action, led by the nation’s largest domestic hunger-relief organization with its network of 200 food banks. Golden Harvest Food Bank is confident that by uniting our efforts, voices, and dedication, we can strengthen our communities and ensure everyone has the food they need to thrive.
