Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Wednesday, October 16th, 2024

The City of Aiken is pleased to announce two upcoming Accommodation Tax Grant Workshops, scheduled for Wednesday, November 6, 2024, from 3 p.m. – 5 p.m., and Thursday, November 7, 2024, from 9 11 a.m. Both sessions will be held at the Center for African American History, Art, and Culture, located at 120 York St. NE, Aiken, SC 29801. Attendees will have an opportunity to network with advertising partners one hour before each session and one hour after. Admission is free, and refreshments will be provided.

Hosting festivals, events, or performances can attract tourists to Aiken. A tourist is defined as anyone traveling more than 50 miles to reach their destination. By promoting events beyond this 50-mile radius, organizers may qualify for marketing funds through the South Carolina State Accommodation Tax Grant.

The first step to applying for this grant is attending a mandatory training session offered in November. The Tourism Division of the City of Aiken’s Department of Parks, Recreation, and Tourism administers both the workshops and the grant process. In addition to learning how to successfully complete the grant application and secure reimbursement, attendees will have the chance to connect with advertising partners to help reach their target audience and financial goals.

To attend one of the mandatory sessions, please RSVP by contacting Sheri Clemons via email at [email protected]. Make sure to list which session you plan to attend. The deadline to RSVP is Monday, November 1, 2024.
