Doctors Hospital Announces 2024 HCA Healthcare Awards of Distinction Recipients

Doctors Hospital is proud to announce the recipients of this year’s prestigious HCA Healthcare Awards of Distinction. These awards include the Frist Humanitarian Awards and the Excellence in Nursing Awards, recognizing individuals whose contributions reflect HCA Healthcare’s mission of compassionate, patient-centered care and dedication to the community. This year’s honorees are celebrated for their commitment to our patients, colleagues, and the broader community.

Excellence in Nursing Award:
Jane Echols, RN – Excellence in Nursing Award for Professional Mentoring
Jane Echols, Vice President of Burn Services, has been with Doctors Hospital for nearly 10 years. Her dedication to her patients, industry advancement, and professional mentorship have shaped the future of healthcare and burn services. Jane embodies the "Care Like Family" values through her humble and genuine guidance of each colleague, promoting and developing her team into leadership roles. With awards including the 2022 Dr. Fred Mullins Award and Director of the Year, Jane is a pillar of support and expertise in our hospital and community. She also serves on the Burn Foundation Board, ensuring care and resources for burn patients and their families.
Mary Cook, RN – Excellence in Nursing Award for Compassionate Care
Mary Cook, a Registered Nurse in the Burn Unit, demonstrates unparalleled compassion and empathy. In July 2023, Mary organized a wedding for a severely burned patient who feared he would miss his upcoming wedding day. Mary led her team to provide a heartfelt ceremony, gathering donations for a DJ, cake, and decorations to transform the Burn Center waiting area into a memorable wedding venue. Mary’s selflessness and dedication exemplify the compassionate care we strive to provide.
Frist Humanitarian Award:
Dean Beasley – Employee Recipient
With 24 years at Doctors Hospital, Dean Beasley, Director of Ethics and Compliance, goes beyond his role to impact lives locally and abroad. Dean is actively involved in international missions, with recent efforts in Guatemala and Cuba, and serves as a long-time volunteer for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society. His dedication extends to various community organizations, including the United Way, Boys and Girls Club, and Golden Harvest Food Bank. Dean’s enduring commitment and compassion make him a deserving recipient of this award.
Dr. James Bardoner – Physician Recipient
Chief of Doctors Hospital Medical Staff and a general surgeon at Doctors Hospital, Dr. James Bardoner exemplifies dedication and humanitarian spirit. His medical mission work spans across continents, including Bangladesh and Serbia, where he provides critical surgical care to underserved communities. Locally, Dr. Bardoner mentors young men in Trail Life USA, promoting leadership and integrity. His genuine compassion and excellence in patient care inspire us all.
