Augusta’s Job Market Grows to Nearly 250K in November

The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that Augusta recorded an unemployment rate of 4.7 percent in November, down three-tenths of a percent over-the-month. A year ago, the rate was 3.3 percent.

As we close out the year, Georgia remains a perennial leader in opportunity, innovation, and prosperity.”
The labor force decreased in Augusta by 1,355 and ended the month with 266,573. That number went up by 3,187 when compared to November of 2023.
Augusta finished the month with 254,153 employed residents. That number decreased by 448 over-the-month and decreased by 521 when compared to the same time a year ago.
Augusta ended November with 248,700 jobs. That number increased by 2,000 over-the-month and was up by 1,900 when compared to this time last year.
In November, initial unemployment claims decreased by 3,141 in Augusta. When you compare November 2024 claims to November 2023, claims were up by 286, totaling 944.
