The City of Augusta and the Greater Augusta Arts Council are thrilled to announce the installation of ten new sculptures along the Augusta Sculpture Trail. The Augusta Sculpture Trail is a path of public art sculptures that are placed at intervals through Downtown Augusta, GA leading to the beautiful Riverwalk and 5th Street Pedestrian Bridge. This trail, which sees 10 new artworks installed every two years. makes for a fun and easy outdoor walking trail that all ages can enjoy. Locations selected use City of Augusta sidewalks for access, making them fully accessible for everyone to enjoy.
The open call for this iteration harbored more than 70 submissions from all over the country, bringing Augusta to the forefront of public art at a national level. Sculptures were juried by local area artists, arts professionals and arts lovers and finalized by the Public Art Advisory Panel. Those selected to be featured include Hearts at Play by Melinda Hoffman (Mauldin, SC), Nitrogenous by Hannah Jubran (Grimesland, NC), Crescendo by Sam Spiczka (Apex, NC), Lotus Blossom by Beau Lyday (Valdese, NC), Bicycle Built for Two by Jim Collins (Signal Mountain, TN), Zephyrus by Jorge Blanco (Sarasota, FL), Dance of Light by Wenxia Zhang (Suwanee, GA), Plumera Sculptura by Kirk Seese (Lutherville, MD), Pale Fire by Joe Schairer (Wallingford, CT) and The Flame by Przemyslaw Kordys (Augusta, Ga).
The installation process has begun and will be finalized by Friday, January 31, 2025. A ribbon cutting ceremony and celebration will take place in the Spring of 2025, with a date and time to be determined.
Arts lovers can view these permanent public art fixtures along the Augusta Sculpture Trial for the next two years. All works are for sale and would be great additions to any private or public areas. More information on the Augusta Sculpture Trail can be found at https://
