The Augusta Regional Airport (AGS) is thrilled to announce the Fourth Annual Run the Runway 5K! AGS will host the fourth Run the Runway 5K on March 15, 2025. The course starts on Lock a Dam Road and winds through the beautiful New Savannah Bluff Lock & Dam Park before it takes you onto the Airport’s actual runway and taxiway. The proceeds of the race will benefit BreatheStrong CF.

BreatheStrong CF is a tax-exempt 501©(3) nonprofit organization that is dedicated to supporting the active lifestyles and overall wellness of individuals with cystic fibrosis (CF) by providing direct assistance for exercise and sports activities, classes, equipment, and other critical needs. CF is a chronic, progressive, life-shortening disorder that turns something as simple as breathing into a daily challenge. There is no cure. Advances in treatments have dramatically improved life expectancy for many individuals living with CF, but managing the condition still requires a rigorous routine of medications, breathing therapies, specialized nutrition, and regular physical activity. BreatheStrong CF works to ease the physical, emotional, and financial strain of living with the disease, providing resources to help children and adults with CF live fuller, healthier lives.

"We are honored and grateful to be the beneficiary of the 4th Annual Run the Runway 5K,” said Becky Penuel, Executive Director of BreatheStrong CF. “BreatheStrong CF works closely with the Augusta University CF Care Center to provide financial relief to the patients and families who are patients there. Living with CF comes with a tremendous financial toll on the entire family. Funding from Run the Runway will help continue our support for CF families who are struggling with keeping groceries on the table or gas in the tank because of the high cost of caring for the disease."

However, this year with so many local trails and greenways obstructed or adversely impacted by Hurricane Helene, we are especially grateful to allow runners, walkers, and families get out and enjoy our course.”
