Get ready for a summer filled with adventure and reading! The Augusta Richmond County Public Library System (ARCPLS) is thrilled to announce its annual Summer Reading Kickoff event, designed to ignite a passion for books in young minds and prevent the dreaded "summer slide." This year promises to be bigger and better than ever as the Library partners with Dave & Buster's to host the kickoff in their parking lot.

Mark your calendars for an afternoon of fun, games, and literacy celebration. This free community event will feature a delightful petting zoo where children can get up close with adorable animals. Adding to the excitement, the Library will be giving away 100 children's books penned by the inspiring author Nia Obotette, who will be attending the event! Ms. Obotette is not only a talented writer but also an accomplished triathlete, proving that anything is possible, and attendees will have the special opportunity to meet her.

Guests can also enjoy a variety of vendors, delicious free food, engaging games, and lively live music throughout the event. For a touch of magic, children will be enchanted by the presence of women dressed as beloved Disney princesses. Adding even more color to the day, there will be face painting for kids to express their creativity.

This exciting partnership between the ARCPLS and Dave & Buster's underscores their shared commitment to community engagement and the importance of literacy. The Summer Reading Program aims to keep children engaged with books during their summer break, fostering a lifelong love of reading and preventing learning loss.

Don't miss out on this fantastic opportunity to kick off the summer in style and celebrate the joy of reading. Join us on Saturday, June 14th, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM at the Dave & Buster's parking lot located at 807 Cabela Drive.
