The Sam Tyson Eagle Scout Scholarship Committee is proud to announce that Robert Watkins of Troop 146, has been awarded the 2025 Sam Tyson Eagle Scout Scholarship.

The Sam Tyson Eagle Scout Scholarship recognizes one outstanding Eagle Scout each year who exemplifies the values of leadership, service, and academic dedication. Robert was selected from a competitive field of applicants across the region for his exceptional service to the community, strong academic record, and commitment to the principles of Scouting.

As part of earning his Eagle rank, Robert led a project titled “Marking Hiking Trails at Generations Park,” which involved organizing and executing a plan to install clear, durable trail markers to improve accessibility and navigation for park visitors. His work has already made a lasting impact on the local community by enhancing outdoor recreation and promoting environmental stewardship.

Along with maintaining a 3.9 GPA at Aiken High School, Robert was also involved in the Aiken High School Academic Team, Woodruff Summer Camp Staff, Aiken High School Concert and Jazz Bands where he played the trumpet, National Honors Society, National Beta Club, and National German Honors Society.

This fall, Robert will attend the University of South Carolina, where he plans to study Political Science. His academic achievements, leadership within Troop 146, and dedication to service made him a standout choice for this year’s scholarship.

“We’re thrilled to recognize Robert Watkins with the Sam Tyson Eagle Scout Scholarship,” said Dan Rogers, Georgia-Carolina Council Scouting America CEO. “His work at Generations Park and his leadership in Scouting reflect the spirit of Sam Tyson’s lifelong commitment to developing young leaders.”

The Sam Tyson Eagle Scout Scholarship was established in honor of Sam Tyson, a devoted Scouting advocate who believed deeply in the power of youth leadership. The scholarship continues his legacy by supporting Eagle Scouts pursuing higher education.
