CURE Childhood Cancer, an Atlanta-based nonprofit that advances pediatric cancer research and provides patient and family services, announces
Laura Waddell has joined CURE as Patient and Family Services Coordinator in Augusta. In 2022, Laura’s oldest son Webb was diagnosed with pilomyxoid astrocytoma, a brain tumor that necessitated emergency surgery and over a year of chemotherapy infusions. Today he is cancer-free and enjoys all things music and sports and being a big brother.
During Webb’s treatment, Laura discovered a passion for connecting with families in similar situations who were longing for a sense of community. She will serve families being treated at Wellstar Children’s Hospital of Georgia.
Prior to joining CURE, Laura was a high school History teach for 10 years. As a lifelong resident of Augusta, Laura is enthusiastic about sharing the multitude of resources and services CURE offers families being treated at Wellstar Children’s Hospital of Georgia. She earned her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Augusta University.
