Where Art Meets Opportunity: Augusta Artist Reception at Edgar’s Bakehouse Today

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Tuesday, August 19th, 2025

Augusta artist Meher Soni will be the featured guest at an upcoming artist reception hosted by Edgar’s Bakehouse, a café where creativity meets community impact. The event will be held Tuesday, August 19, from 5–7 p.m., inviting guests to enjoy passed hors d’oeuvres, a welcome cocktail, and the opportunity to explore Soni’s mystical abstract self-portraits and landscapes.

Soni’s canvases balance luminosity and darkness, transforming struggle into hope and inviting viewers to reflect on resilience, growth, and spiritual connection. Her work will remain on display at Edgar’s Bakehouse through September and can also be explored at mehersoniart.com.

“Meher Soni’s paintings capture something we believe deeply at Goodwill: that obstacles can be transformed into sources of growth and light,” said Jennifer Tyner, Vice President for Marketing and Development at Goodwill of Middle Georgia and the CSRA. “Her work reflects the spirit of the people we serve, who take on challenges and, with the right support, discover new opportunities to succeed.”

Art Meets Mission at Edgar’s Bakehouse

What makes this reception truly special is that every event at Edgar’s Bakehouse supports the broader mission of Goodwill of Middle Georgia and the CSRA, the parent organization of both Helms College and Edgar’s Hospitality Group. Together, these enterprises create a pathway to education, career skills, and meaningful employment, opening doors to opportunities that transform lives.

Helms College provides accredited career education in hospitality, health services, and skilled trades. Edgar’s Hospitality Group— including Edgar’s BakehouseEdgar’s Grille, and The Pinnacle Club — serves as its applied learning venues. Students gain hands-on training in real restaurants, bakeries, and catering environments while guests enjoy exceptional food and service. Proceeds from Edgar Hospitality Group dining directly support scholarships, training, and career coaching through Goodwill and Helms College.

“Events like this artist reception celebrate local creativity while also advancing our mission,” Tyner added. “Edgar’s Bakehouse is more than a café. It’s a place where art, community, and opportunity come together to change lives.”

In addition to the reception, Edgar’s Bakehouse will remain open for full menu service throughout the evening. Soni’s paintings will continue to be on display at the Bakehouse through September, and her collection is also available at mehersoniart.com.
