The Columbia County Chamber of Commerce is pleased to announce the appointment of J. David Jameson as our Interim President and CEO. An experienced chamber professional with five decades of experience in leadership, community development, and building relationships, Jameson is the perfect candidate to take over this role until a new president is selected.

“Our organization is fortunate to have someone from the CSRA who can step in during the short run,” said Neil Gwynne, Chairman of the Columbia County Chamber’s Board of Directors. “David’s experience and dedication will serve us well as we move toward selecting our next President.”

Jameson brings a wealth of experience to the role, having concluded a remarkable 50-year career in February 2023. For the past 18 years, he served as President and CEO of the Aiken Chamber of Commerce, where his steadfast leadership and strategic vision left a lasting legacy. Throughout his career, Jameson has successfully led Chambers of Commerce and economic development organizations across South Carolina and North Carolina.

“I am honored to be asked to serve as Interim President of the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce,” Jameson said. “I look forward to leading an already outstanding team as we continue working with our members and the community to execute the Chamber’s vision for the Greater Augusta Region.”

Jameson is known for his ability to lead, his knowledge of the industry, and his contagious enthusiasm. His reputation for inspiring teams and driving organizations forward makes him an exceptional choice for this interim role. Among his many contributions, Jameson served two terms as Chairman of the Savannah River Site Community Reuse Organization, a nonprofit economic development entity representing five counties in Georgia and South Carolina surrounding the Savannah River Site. He was also an Advisory Board member for the CSRA Alliance for Fort Gordon and is a past president of the Rotary Club of Aiken. Earlier this year, the Aiken Chamber of Commerce presented Jameson with its prestigious Man of the Year award.

In addition to this recognition, Jameson has been honored with numerous distinctions throughout his career. He received the Distinguished Citizenship Award from the Boy Scouts of America and was recognized by Concerned Ministers Fellowship with the Stuff That Legends Are Made of Award. He is counted among the Notable Alumni of Armstrong State University (now Georgia Southern University) and has twice received the Commander’s Award for Public Service from the U.S. Department of the Army. Jameson was also honored with the Order of the Palmetto, the highest civilian award presented by the Governor of South Carolina.

Jameson and his wife, Sandra, have been married for 48 years. They are the proud parents of two sons—one residing in Evans, Georgia, and the other in North Carolina—as well as six cherished grandchildren.

While its past president is pursuing new endeavors, the Columbia County Chamber of Commerce remains committed to supporting local businesses and fostering economic growth and is confident that Jameson's guidance will ensure a smooth and successful transition.
