Augusta Technical College is excited to announce that Mr. Jimmy Bostock has been selected as the 2025-2026 Outstanding Teacher of the Year (OTOY) for the Adult Education Department.

The announcement of Mr. Bostock as the winner was made after the local competition in the Jack B. Patrick Information Technology Center (ITC) on the Augusta Campus.

The Adult Education OTOY program is designed to recognize and honor our most outstanding Adult Education teachers who make significant contributions to the field through instruction, innovation, and leadership. These outstanding teachers participate in school and community activities, they understand the importance of and are committed to the Adult Education profession, and they exemplify excellence. The OTOY has a deep commitment to the mission of the Office of Adult Education (OAE).

Mr. Bostock was nominated by her peers at the college to become the Adult Education Outstanding Teacher of the Year.

"I am deeply honored to be chosen as Augusta Technical College’s Outstanding Adult Education Teacher of the Year for 2026. I am privileged to work alongside the President, the Dean, and the dedicated faculty and staff of the Augusta Tech Adult Education Department – an exceptional team of which I am proud to be a member. I truly stand on the shoulders of giants,” stated Bostock.

Bostock holds a B.S. in Applied Mathematics from Valdosta State College, an M. Ed. in Foundations of Education from Troy State University, and an Ed. S. in Educational Leadership from Augusta State University. Mr. Bostock has taught math at Valdosta High School and Hephzibah High School, later serving as Mathematics Department Chair and Instructional Technology Specialist. He went on to lead as State Instructional Technology Specialist and Director for the Georgia Department of Education’s Educational Technology Center, where he helped shape technology integration in classrooms statewide.

Since joining Augusta Technical College, Mr. Bostock has continued to make a significant impact. As an Adult Ed Blackboard Sub-Administrator, he has enhanced online learning and supported faculty and students alike. In FY25, he helped 33 students earn their GEDs, and he continues to expand access to education through online and distance learning, including instruction to McDuffie County from our Augusta campus.

"Mr. Bostock is well deserving of this honor. Mr. Bostock serves as our Adult Education Blackboard Sub-Administrator, teaches distance education classes, and produced 33 GED graduates in FY25! Mr. Bostock is a mentor instructor and one of our Math Bootcamp instructors. Mr. Bostock is the ultimate team player and he is always willing to help when called upon. We are very lucky to have Mr. Bostock as part of the Adult Ed team! I wish him much success as he competes amongst his peers in the Regional and State competitions," stated Angela Moseley, Dean of Adult Education.

The OAE OTOY Award Winner serves as a professional-level ambassador for Adult Education in Georgia as the TCSG OAE’s Outstanding Teacher of the Year. S/he makes many public appearances (virtual or in-person) throughout the year, including presenting before the TCSG State Board, college presidents, city/state officials, the General Assembly of the State of Georgia and other speaking engagement opportunities in order to promote Adult Education.

In addition to carrying the distinguished title, the recipient will receive a cash award of $2,500.
