Richmond County School System Class of 2025 Achieves SAT Gains, Highest Number of Test Takers Since Pre-pandemic

More than 640 Richmond County School System (RCSS) students recorded an 11-point increase in the Class of 2025’s mean SAT score, rising to 964 from 953 in 2024, according to results released today by the Georgia Department of Education. Eight high schools also increased their scores.

“These results reflect the hard work of our students and educators across the district,” said Superintendent Dr. Malinda Cobb. “We are especially encouraged to see more students taking the SAT and achieving higher scores, which expands their opportunities for college admissions and scholarships.”

Schools reported gains across both sections of the exam, with a nine-point increase in Evidence-Based Reading and Writing and a two-point increase in Mathematics. A total of 643 students in the Class of 2025 completed the exam, the highest number of test takers since before the pandemic and up from 566 in 2024.

A.R. Johnson Health Science and Engineering, John S. Davidson Fine Arts Magnet, and Richmond County Technical Career Magnet (RCTCM) schools surpassed the national average. Davidson Fine Arts led the district with a mean score of 1169, placing it among the top 5% of schools in Georgia.

Eight high schools across the school system improved their average scores, with an overall gain of 26 points. RCTCM posted the largest single increase at 42 points, followed by A.R. Johnson (+34), the Academy of Richmond County High School (+33), Hephzibah Comprehensive High School (+33),

Davidson Fine Arts (+22), Cross Creek Comprehensive High School (+21), Glenn Hills Comprehensive High School (+16), and George P. Butler Comprehensive High School (+6).
