AAA: Pump Prices in Georgia Remain Steady, Up Only One Cent

Staff Report From Georgia CEO

Tuesday, January 13th, 2026

Georgia drivers are seeing little change at the pump this week. The state’s average price inched up just one cent to $2.66 per gallon as of Monday, though daily fluctuations remain likely.

Compared to recent benchmarks:

  • It's 1 cent higher than last week
  • 12 cents lower than last month
  • 27 cents lower than this time last year

For those filling up a standard 15-gallon tank, the cost now comes to approximately $39.90.

"With crude oil prices holding steady since the end of 2025 and fewer drivers fueling up, gas prices have stayed on the lower side," said Montrae Waiters, spokeswoman for AAA-The Auto Club Group.

National Gas Average Steady, Lowest Since 2021

The new year begins with the lowest national average in years at $2.79. Gas prices haven’t been this low nationwide since March 2021. Crude oil prices are holding steady compared to late 2025, despite uncertainty around Venezuela’s role in the market. For now, global supply remains strong. OPEC+, the group of major oil‑exporting countries, says it doesn’t plan to increase production in the first quarter of 2026 because demand has softened.

Electric:

Electric vehicle drivers saw no change in charging costs this past week, with the national average holding steady at 38 cents per kilowatt-hour. To plan ahead, drivers can check charging prices along their route using AAA’s TripTik Travel Planner.

Regional Prices:

The most expensive metro markets in Georgia are Savannah ($2.73), Atlanta ($2.71), and Athens ($2.70).

The least expensive metro markets in Georgia are Brunswick ($2.57), Valdosta ($2.56), and Catoosa-Dade-Walker ($2.52).

Fuel-Saving Tips for Drivers

  • Maintain your vehicle to ensure the best fuel economy. Find a trusted automotive facility at AAA.com/Auto Repair.

  • Slow down. Fuel economy diminishes significantly at highway speeds above 50 mph. Drive conservatively and avoid aggressive driving. Aggressive acceleration and speeding can reduce fuel economy.
