"At Georgia Carolina Orthopedics, we believe movement is medicine, and supporting events like the Augusta Half Marathon is a natural extension of our mission,” said Dr. David Gallagher, GCO orthopedic surgeon. “This race brings people together to stay active, challenge themselves, and celebrate health and wellness in our community. We’re proud to support the Augusta Sports Council and the incredible athletes and families who make this event so special.”
The Augusta Half Marathon, 10K & 5K has been owned and hosted by the Augusta Sports Council since 2008. Proceeds from the annual event support ASC's mission and directly contribute to the organization's G.A.M.E.S (Greater Augusta Medal for Excellence in Sports) Scholarship Program.
The G.A.M.E.S Scholarship Program was established in 2011 as part of the Augusta Sports Council’s annual G.A.M.E.S. Awards. The program was created to recognize outstanding amateur athletes who represented a broad range of sports disciplines throughout the Greater Augusta area.
Nominations are now being accepted for the G.A.M.E.S Scholarship Program. Ten $1,000 scholarships will be awarded to selected local graduating high school student-athletes. Nominations may be submitted online through the Augusta Sports Council website and will be accepted through April 1, 2026.
To date, the Augusta Sports Council has awarded over $98,000 in college scholarships to 88 graduating high school student-athletes in the Augusta community. Proceeds from the 2026 Augusta Half Marathon, 10K, & 5K presented by Georgia Carolina Orthopedics will directly benefit the GAMES Scholarship Fund.
