Between Two Banks is a diverse exhibition featuring works created by local artists. The works on display explore the themes of water as a transformative and connective power, as explored through the lens of the Savannah River. On view in the Augusta & Co. Gallery, located at 1010 Broad Street. Augusta, GA 30901from January 8 - March 25, 2026, the exhibition invites viewers to consider the river as both subject and storyteller, considering how water shapes landscapes and communities. An artist reception will be held on First Friday, February 6, 2026, from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., offering the public an opportunity to meet the artists and engage more deeply with the work on view.

 

For centuries, the Savannah River has been central to Augusta’s identity, serving as a vital artery for trade, travel, and cultural exchange. It has supported the region’s economy through shipping, industry, and recreation, while also sustaining a rich and diverse ecosystem. From its role in Indigenous history to early colonial settlement and beyond, its continued importance is plain to see in modern tourism and outdoor life. To this day the Savannah River remains a powerful force connecting Augusta's residents and visitors with a rich global highway - water. Between Two Banks honors this legacy, reflecting on how water shapes Augusta.
