On December 5th and 6th Russell Joel Brown presented “Home for the Holidays at Paine College” a fundraising holiday concert. Backed by an 85-voice choir, dancers, and original projections, Russell Joel Brown ushered in the holiday season in spectacular theatrical style. The show included multiple styles of music, lavish costumes, hip-hop dancers, and a giant custom made Bunraku puppet.
Mr. Brown produced the concert as a fundraiser to support Paine College and presented a check for $40,000 to Dr. Lester McCorn, President of Paine College on January 6, 2026. Several City Commissioners, Mayor Garnett Johnson, and Paine College officials were in attendance for the special presentation.
In his presentation remarks, Mr. Brown stated, “This is—without question—the biggest show I’ve produced. We utilized over 100 artists and technicians to bring it to fruition. And as is my custom, I wanted the music to speak to a wide cross-section of hearts and ears—classical, country, R&B, pop, jazz—because music is a bridge. It’s how we gather. As a Morehouse man, I know what an HBCU can do in a life. I know what it means to be seen, challenged, and shaped by an institution that carries both history and destiny. And I’m giving because I believe this is a pivotal moment for Paine College. It’s a new era here. And I want to be part of the wave—not watching it from the shore.”
