Wednesday, February 4th, 2026
United Way of the CSRA is pleased to announce it has received a $15,000 grant from the Community Foundation for the CSRA – Community Grants Program. These funds will support a collaborative program aimed at reducing chronic absenteeism across three local schools.
The program will operate at Wilkinson Gardens Elementary, Richmond Hill Elementary, and Barton Chapel Elementary. Under the oversight of United Way AmeriCorps VISTAs, the initiative will work to identify family-specific causes for chronic absenteeism and provide the necessary community services to overcome those root causes. This approach ensures that students in Richmond County have the support and stability needed to remain in the classroom and succeed.
"Our community is strongest when we work together to remove barriers to education," said Brittany Burnett, President & CEO of United Way of the CSRA. "This grant allows us to dig deep into the root causes of absenteeism and provide tailored support that helps families and students thrive."
Attending the grant announcement on behalf of United Way of the CSRA was Brittany Burnett, President & CEO, alongside Dr. Malinda Cobb, Superintendent of Schools for the Richmond County School System.
