Augusta to Act on Charter Recommendation, Even Though Committee Work isn’t Over

Augusta’s Charter Review Committee has a meeting next week, but Augusta leaders have seen enough.

“It made me feel like I’ve wasted a year of my life. Because we’ve put a lot of work into this, and here we are at the end. There are some tweaks we have to make,” said Dr. Sheffie Robinson, a Charter Review Committee member.

On Tuesday, commissioners are scheduled to vote on a resolution requesting state lawmakers change the city charter to a strong manager form of government, and have it placed on the ballot for the November election.
