Augusta Leaders Ready to Transition to a New way to Maintain the City

Cutting the grass on city property is in for a change, with commissioners approving the plan to turn all landscaping over to a new single department, but some city leaders are not sure if new will mean better.

“Let’s do this to try and get a long haul out of it. let’s do it right and let’s not hurt another department in the process of doing it. I’m totally for having a landscape department, but I want it done right,” said Commissioner Lonnie Wimberly, who voted against the plan.

The Administrator laid. out the plans to transition from four departments cutting grass to just one.

This will not happen overnight. She said the new department will not be ready to begin until January of next year.
