Augusta Regional Airport (AGS) is pleased to partner with the Georgia Institute of Technology to host a free two-week summer camp for local area high school students as part of AGS’s Air Ed Program.

The summer camp will be held at the AGS from June 8-29, 2026. The summer camp is designed to maximize participation from students who are prepared in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) and motivated to support aerospace programs that are vital to the nation.

The camp will consist of a two-week immersive experience for high school juniors and seniors. Students will work in teams to develop a mission for their drones, determine a conceptual design, and build a prototype capable of completing that mission. Throughout the program, students will conduct test flights, troubleshoot challenges, and refine their initial designs. The experience culminates in a final drone design, comprehensive documentation of their engineering process, and a presentation shared during a community showcase following the final test flights.

“With the tremendous growth in the UAS industry and the expanding opportunities for rewarding careers, we are excited to host this collaborative event with Georgia Institute of Technology,” stated Herbert L. Judon, Jr., Airport Executive Director.

“We’re thrilled to partner with Augusta Regional Airport to bring Georgia Tech Aerospace Engineering’s proven, aerospace-themed summer program to students across the Augusta region,” added Kelly Griendling, Ph.D., K-12 Outreach Lead for the Georgia Space Grant Consortium at Georgia Institute of Technology. “This program will provide students with meaningful, hands-on experiences in aviation and engineering while inspiring the next generation workforce.”

A detailed presentation about the summer camp will be delivered at the 7th Annual Innovation Xchange on March 5, 2026, at 11:50 a.m., at Hyatt House Augusta Downtown (8th Floor).
