Building Brighter Futures: SRNS Supports Aiken and Barnwell County
Thursday, March 26th, 2026
Savannah River Nuclear Solutions (SRNS) has been a long-time
supporter of the YMCAs of Aiken and Barnwell Counties. To further support this year’s community initiatives, SRNS contributed $7,500 to the Aiken County Family YMCA and $5,000 to the Barnwell County Family YMCA. In total, SRNS has donated over $185,000 to the YMCAs of Aiken and Barnwell
Counties since 2008.
The YMCA provides a myriad of vital services to communities that many SRNS employees call home— from basic needs like food and childcare to programs supporting student athletes, local schools and senior citizens. All donations directly impact local families, helping build a brighter, safer and healthier future. The funds extend programs such as A Place to Dream, which provides underprivileged children with their own beds. Since 2022, nearly 210 beds have been distributed to children in Barnwell County; and in 2025 alone, 120 beds were delivered to children in Aiken County.
“The YMCA plays a vital role in enriching the lives of individuals and families across our region, and it’s a privilege for SRNS to support such an impactful organization,” said SRNS Senior Advisor and YMCA Board Member Rich Zaharek. “SRNS’ partnership and contributions reflect the company’s dedication to uplifting the communities where our employees live and work. We are very proud to work alongside the YMCA to help ensure their legacy of service continues to benefit this region for generations to come.”
"Thanks to SRNS’ generous support, we’ve been able to provide safe, supportive childcare and after school programs, impacting countless lives in our community,” said Executive Director, Barnwell County YMCA Chantsie Pickelsimer. “Their commitment strengthens our mission and helps us uplift those we serve. We are truly grateful for this enduring partnership."
