March 26, 2026: In advance of Autism Awareness Month in April, local non-profit organization M.O.M (Moving Over Mountains Against Autism) hosts their fourth annual autism walk on Sunday, March 29, 2026, from 8:30a.m. to 1:30 p.m. at Lake Olmstead Park, 2200 Broad Street, Augusta, GA.
Hosted by autism advocate and founder of M.O.M, Deidre Roberson, the annual walk launched on the first Sunday in April 2023 during Autism Awareness month out of a need to build support networks and awareness for autism. This year’s walk will take place on the last Sunday in March due to Easter falling on the first Sunday in April. The walk this year will be dedicated to Cory Green, who photographed the walk annually as a sponsor and supported M.O.M., and who passed away a week prior to this year’s walk.
“
This walk is personal to me because of my son Marshall, and the other young people that I advocate for,” says founder
Deidre Roberson. “
Augusta didn’t have anything like this, and I saw it taking place in other cities and decided to start the walk in my community.” What participants can expect at the walk are vendors providing food, arts and crafts, and community resources, as well as music and fun for the whole community.
