Allen Homes Community Garden to Launch on Earth Day
Friday, April 17th, 2026
Community leaders, residents, and partners will gather on Wednesday, April 22, 2026, from 4:00 to 6:00 p.m. at 526 Hines Street for the official launch of the Allen Homes Community Garden during an Earth Day celebration.
Developed through Augusta’s Choice Neighborhoods initiative, the project is led by Black Farm Street Inc. in partnership with Augusta Locally Grown, the City of Augusta Housing & Community Development Department, the Augusta Housing Authority, and the Greater Augusta Arts Council.
The garden features raised beds, irrigation, gathering space, and public art, alongside improvements including a revitalized basketball court. Designed through resident input, the project supports food access, education, and community connection while engaging residents during a period of neighborhood transition and future redevelopment planning.
The celebration will include remarks, a community planting activity, mural unveiling, and opportunities for residents and partners to gather.
“This project is about creating spaces that support people and strengthen community,” said Lashawndra Robinson, Executive Director of Black Farm Street Inc.
The event is free and open to the public.
