Augusta Canal Cleanup Invites Volunteers to Restore Historic Site

The Augusta Canoe & Kayak Club, in partnership with the Augusta Canal National Heritage Area, invites community members to join a volunteer Augusta Canal cleanup.
The cleanup will focus on restoring and beautifying the historic Augusta Canal Bulkhead Gates and the Lake Olmstead Trailhead parking lot.

Volunteers are asked to meet at 9 a.m. Saturday at the Lake Olmstead Trailhead, located directly behind the old GreenJackets stadium on Milledge Road.
"The Augusta Canal is a jewel of our city, and keeping it pristine takes a village," Russ Gambill of the Augusta Canal National Heritage Area said in a news release. "Whether you want to clean from the water in a kayak or help out on foot, every set of hands makes a massive difference. We're proud to partner with the Augusta Canoe & Kayak Club to protect this incredible resource."
