When it comes to data centers, commissioners keep hearing concerns, at least publicly.   

“Actually, I have people call me naturally, they’re not going to come before the commission that are in support of data centers. They see the positive side of it,” said Mayor Pro-Tem Wayne Guilfoyle.

Last week, city leaders heard from 11 speakers who were not positive about data centers, after city leaders extended the moratorium on new ones by 60 days and scheduled three public meetings to discuss the new ordinance. Now some calling for the city to get moving.

“Those hearings still aren’t scheduled. We’re a week into that 60-day clock with no dates, no locations, and no way for residents to plan to attend,” said Doctor Gayla Keesee of the League of Women Voters.
