Augusta’s Amy Lawson Celebrated Following Historic Appointment as Georgia DAR State Regent
Tuesday, July 7th, 2026
Daughters from across Georgia gathered today at the historic Julian Smith Casino to honor Augusta resident Amy Lawson during a special tea celebrating her recent installation as State Regent of the Georgia State Society, NSDAR.
Lawson’s appointment marks a historic milestone for Augusta, as she is the first State Regent from the city in 128 years.
The Daughters of the American Revolution is a nonprofit, nonpolitical women’s service organization dedicated to promoting historic preservation, education, and patriotism. Since its founding in 1890, DAR members have worked to preserve America’s history, support educational initiatives, recognize outstanding students, and honor the service and sacrifice of veterans, active-duty military members, and first responders.
Lawson has long been recognized for her passion for preserving our nation’s history and ensuring that future generations understand the sacrifices made to secure America’s freedom. Her leadership comes at a meaningful time as communities across Georgia—and the nation—are commemorating America’s 250th anniversary through special events celebrating the country’s founding and enduring legacy.
In addition to her leadership within the DAR, Lawson is an active member of the Augusta Symphony Guild and Greater Augusta FCA and serves the community through her work at Via Cognitive Health, where she helps support individuals and families affected by dementia and memory loss.
Lawson’s installation reflects not only her lifelong commitment to service but also Augusta’s enduring tradition of civic leadership. As Georgia’s new State Regent, she will help lead the organization’s efforts to preserve American history, inspire patriotism, and serve communities throughout the state during one of the most significant milestones in our nation’s history.
