Augusta firefighters are used to running toward the heat, but this weekend,
they will face a completely different kind of fire. Dave’s Hot Chicken is teaming up with the Augusta Fire Department this Saturday, July 18, from 2–4pm for the Five Alarm Firehouse Fest. This will be a family-friendly community fundraiser at Dave’s new Augusta location at 1102 Trust Avenue, Augusta, GA. Local heroes will test their limits against the infamous “Reaper” spice level to raise life-saving safety funds.

During the event, 20 percent of all sales will be donated directly to the Augusta Fire Department. The funds raised will be used to purchase 10-year battery smoke detectors for local families in need. Currently, more than 100 Augusta community members are on a waiting list for these life-saving devices, making every purchase during the event a direct contribution to neighborhood safety.

One of the afternoon’s featured events will be the highly anticipated 5-Alarm Firehouse Reaper Challenge, where four Augusta firefighters will go head-to-head for bragging rights and the coveted Golden Chicken Fire Extinguisher Trophy. Augusta Fire Chief Antonio Burden will be in attendance to greet guests and will even step behind the counter alongside local firefighters to help serve the community.

In addition to the spicy showdown, attendees of all ages can enjoy a vibrant block-party atmosphere featuring:

• Photo opportunities with Sparky the Fire Dog and Augusta firefighters
• A hands-on Home Depot Kids Craft Activity
• Family-friendly games and interactive activities
