Thursday, July 23rd, 2026

Today is day two of Richmond County Sheriff, Eugene “Gino Rock” Brantley 2nd Annual Youth Basketball Camp at Lucy C. Laney High School.

The free “Gino Rock” annual basketball camp is back, and the community is taking this time to learn, grow and have fun on the court.

Young athletes from the ages seven to sixteen are spending the day building their basketball skills while also building teamwork and connections with their peers. Coaches and the Richmond County Sheriff’s Office says that this event extends way beyond just the sport basketball.

Lieutenant Cory Carlyle works in the Community Service Division, he tells Channel 6, “One of the things that we hope they leave with is that they see a positive lead in law enforcement, and law enforcement isn’t bad. And one of the things that we want to do, we want to build those relationships. We want to continue and connect with the kids because we want to help them be better in society.”.
