Augusta Commissioner Says New Data Center Regs Do Not Go Far Enough

The ink is barely dry Augusta’s new Data Center Ordinance, but some city leaders say the new rules do not go far enough.
“Here we are with an ordinance that lacks additional protections from communities where these data centers will call home. How does that say fairness? How does that scream fairness? It doesn’t,” said Commissioner Jordan Johnson.
On a six to five vote, city leaders approved new regulations for data centers, including where they can locate, how loud they can be, what buffers need to be in place etc. Supporters call the new rules comprehensive.
