Augusta Committee Backs Solicitor General Funding Fix, Delays Water Park Study Vote

n Augusta committee approved Solicitor General Omeeka Loggins’ request to restore $47,920 cut from her office’s 2026 budget. The item now goes to the full commission next week for final approval. In a separate committee item, commissioners pulled a proposed water park feasibility study and moved it to next week’s commission meeting.

Commissioners said the decision on Loggins’ request should not be interpreted as “opening the floodgates” for every Augusta department that received a budget cut to return and ask for its money back. Commissioners considered Loggins’ situation a valid concern because of the specific operating expenses affected.
