Augusta Regional Airport (AGS), statement from Airport Executive

“On September 17, 2026, the Airport was announced as an $800,000 recipient for the US Department of Transportation’s (DOT) Small Community Air Service Development (SCASD) grant for service to Chicago. The SCASD grant is designed to assist communities to obtain additional air service. Grant funds are specifically used to incentive new service by reducing airline’s startup monetary risks and/or for marketing new service.

We are ecstatic to be one of the fourteen Airports to receive this year’s award. This accomplishment is a testament of the staff’s persistence as well as support from leaders at the local, regional. state, and federal levels. The grant award is not a guarantee and AGS has yet to secure service to Chicago, but this grant places us in a strong position to likely do so. AGS last received a SCASD grant in 2017 and used it to secure our daily service to Washington, D.C. The timing of potential service to Chicago is great for our region as we continue to grow and introduce more work/play options for our citizens.”
