Augusta residents will have a chance this evening to weigh in on proposed rules that would regulate future data center development in the city.

The public meeting is part of the city’s effort to put together the community’s feedback before a proposed data center ordinance is finalized. The drafted ordinance would address requirements for where data centers could be built and how they would begin to operate.

This meeting will address different points in the ordinance: noise, lighting, and even the visual impact on the community. Many people are concerned about the impact data centers would have on quality of life and the environment.
