The CSRA Food Policy Council has elected its founding board officers and welcomed a new member as the regional organization continues building its governance structure and first-year agenda.

At its September 14 meeting, the Board elected:

• Cassandra Loftlin, Chair
• Naomi Stanton, Vice-Chair
• Lashawndra Robinson, Treasurer
• Karen Gordon, Secretary

The Council also welcomed Sarah Bobrow-Williams as a new board member.

The founding Board of Directors includes Cassandra Loftlin, Malcolm Bevel, PhD, Karen Gordon, Ryan Pressley, Jordan Johnson, Lashawndra Robinson, Naomi Stanton and Sarah Bobrow-Williams.

The Council is led by Priscilla Elliott, MPA, Founding Director.

The CSRA Food Policy Council is a grassroots, community-led and nonpartisan initiative serving 18 counties across Georgia and South Carolina. Its mission is to bring together residents, farmers, advocates, institutions, businesses and government leaders to improve food access, advance equitable food policy and strengthen the regional food system.

During its first year, the Council plans to focus on community engagement, food access, policy research, transportation and infrastructure, health and nutrition, and grocery and retail investment. The organization also plans to develop regional food-system data, review policy and regulatory barriers, convene community listening sessions and advance recommendations for long-term regional action.
