Fleming Park could soon have a new look as Augusta Recreation and Parks moves forward with plans to transform the South Augusta park and the Bernie Ward Community Center.

Community members got a first look at the proposed improvements Tuesday night during a community engagement open house at the Bernie Ward Community Center.

The project is being funded through SPLOST 7 and 8. Recreation and Parks Director Tameka Williams said the city wants to make sure the community remains involved as the plans move forward.

“We want to be definitely good stewards of the community, but also have the community input and let them know where we are thus far in the process of getting this improvement done at this facility,” Williams said.
