September is National Recovery Month, and organizations are using the month to shine a light on the disorder and encourage others to help.

On Monday, the Georgia Recovers in Communities tour bus stopped in Augusta at The HUB. Hosted by AU’s School of Public Health, it’s part of a statewide 60-stop tour across the state. The goal is to help the city of Augusta improve its recovery efforts and celebrate people who survive addiction and are rebuilding their lives in recovery.

“I think just letting people know that they are loved, that there is support for them,” said Brian Kite of the Georgia Center for Recovery. “They are not alone in this journey and that we can do a lot of different things and connect them to the resources that might be able to help them.”
