Columbia County Library System to Celebrate New Holds Locker at Evans Library
Thursday, October 15th, 2026
The Columbia County Library System will host a ribbon cutting for its new holds locker at the Evans Library on Monday, October 19, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.
The event will take place at the entrance of the Evans Library, located at 7022 Evans Town Center Boulevard, Evans, GA. The public is invited to attend.
The new outdoor holds locker provides a convenient 24-hour option for patrons to pick up library materials they have placed on hold. The locker is located next to the library entrance and is designed for patrons who need to collect their items outside regular operating hours or while short on time.
“The new holds locker gives our patrons more flexibility in how and when they access their library materials,” said Keisha Evans, Library Manager. “Whether someone is balancing work, family responsibilities, or a busy schedule, this service makes it easier to pick up holds at a time that works for them.”
The system includes 17 lockers. To use the holds locker, patrons may speak with a librarian or place a hold online and select Evans Library Book Locker as the pickup location. When materials are ready, patrons can scan their library card at the locker, retrieve their items, and complete the checkout process using the screen.
Patrons have three days to pick up their materials from the locker. After that period, unclaimed holds will be moved to the holds shelf inside the library.
The project was completed through collaboration among library staff, Information Technology, maintenance staff, and contractors. The Columbia County Library System is one of six library systems among Georgia’s 61 library systems to offer this type of service. The new locker is intended to provide an additional level of convenience for the community.
