New Aiken County Recreation Center Honors Two Influential Community Members

Aiken County celebrated its new recreation center. The ribbon was cut and it was named for two very important people.
The new recreation center is named in honor of Minnie Palmore and John Hatney.
Palmore was an educator in Aiken County that taught for more than fifty years. Hatney was the former caretaker for the park and lived in a cottage on the grounds. The park is now named in honor of Palmore while the cottage is now called the Hatney House.
Hatney and Palmore left lasting impressions on the people of Aiken County.
