Tuesday, October 20th, 2015
Augusta Regional Airport is hosting 30 students from the Richmond County School System to attend a Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math Aviation Career Day at the Airport!
On October 23, 15 students from Cross Creek High School and 15 students from Pine Hill Middle School will be visiting AGS to participate in the Airports second STEM Aviation Career Day. The students will be provided the opportunity to learn about the Aviation Industry and how STEM is important to each Aviation career.
Each student will have the opportunity to interact with staff and tour the facilities of the Federal Aviation Administration Control Tower, the Standard Aero maintenance hangar, the Aircraft Rescue and Firefighting station, and a flight instructor with her Cessna 172 aircraft.
“Many young people have never had exposure to nor considered aviation as a career, so we wanted to provide them with an introduction to the industry” said Roy Williams, the Airports Executive Director. “We felt that by holding a Career Day we could ignite the love of aviation, which could in turn provide future careers to local students within this exciting industry.”
