In 2018, 6 Richmond County High Schools exceeded the state graduation rate with 5 exceeding the national average, while 9 high schools had a graduation rate above 80%. The RCSS graduation rate of 78% is the second highest since 2004.
The Richmond County Technical Career Magnet School and Performance Learning Center recorded their highest graduation rates to date, with Westside High School, Hephzibah High School, and the Academy of Richmond County posting their highest graduation rates in 15 years. The Alternative Education Center at Lamar and the Performance Learning Center boasted significant gains of 8.8% and 8.1% respectively.
In Special Education, 6 of the 7 schools receiving a graduation rate, exceeded state targets for Students with Disabilities.
“We are excited about the success of our schools. Advanced Placement scores have increased and we have integrated STEM enhancements which have energized our student body,” said Dr. Angela D. Pringle, Superintendent of Schools. “The Reaching Potential through Manufacturing program and Performance Learning Center will allow the school system to support our students who are at the greatest risk of not graduating. Through community and business partners, we will be able to focus on the whole child in our effort to increase academic achievement.”
