Augusta Sees Job Growth in February, Unemployment Rate at 4.5%

The Georgia Department of Labor announced Thursday that Augusta recorded an unemployment rate of 4.5 percent in February, up two-tenths over-the-month. A year ago, the rate was 4.1 percent.

“Jobs are growing, and so is Georgia’s future," said GDOL Interim Successor Louis DeBroux. "With regional job growth across Georgia in February and the state's unemployment rate holding steady at 3.6%—well below the national average—Georgia continues to prove itself as the #1 place where businesses and talent thrive."

The labor force increased in Augusta by 1,268 and ended the month with 267,701. That number went down by 177 when compared to February 2024.

Augusta finished the month with 255,618 employed residents. That number increased by 655 over-the-month and declined by 1,225 when compared to the same time a year ago.

Augusta ended February with 245,300 jobs. That number increased by 1,000 from January to February and was up by 500 when compared to this time last year.

In February, initial unemployment claims decreased by 653 over-the-month and were down by 234 when compared to the same month last year, totaling 653.
